DC’s Source has released the a preview of Brightest Day solicitations, including JLA books, for July 2010. The five-part JLA/JSA cross-over continues with parts two and three and the big-interlocking cover by Mark Bagley. The preview solicitation (the preview of the preview?) lists the publication date of Generation Lost #5 and #6 as the same day. This could be a typo. JLA Solicitations for June 2010

It’s seems that the year has barely started – March already?? – and DC is already releasing their preview solicitations for June. The biggest JLA news is the start of a 5-part JLA/JSA crossover which appears to feature on complications with the Starheart – the mystical force that power’s Alan Scott’s unique mystical Green Lantern. We see Jesse Quick on the cover of JLA #46 in the version of her father’s costume she adopted in Flash: Rebirth and used in the James Robinson penned Blackest Night: JSA.

As well as the developing Brightest Day storylines June also sees the release of a brand new Green Arrow series. I wouldn’t normally mention it in these postings of JLA blurbs, but the cover by Cry For Justice’s Mauro Cascioli is absolutely beautiful:

JLA Solicitations for May 2010

DC’s Source has published the May 2010 solicitations for issues that are part of the “Brightest Day” story. This includes the previously released cover to Justice League: Generation Lost. The main JLA title will continue the JLA/JSA team-up which is the prelude to an arc called “The Ghosts of Earth and Space.” Also announced is Supergirl’s arrival in the JLA. One could ask  just how large is this team going to get! However, I wonder if it’ll be a case of one-in, one-out with Supergirl and Mon-El. We’ll see in May.

JLA Solicitations for March 2010

March 2010 appears to be Green Arrow and the JLA month with four-linked issues that spin-out of Cry For Justice and the events there-in. We’ve already covered their announcement, but DC has now released the solicitation details for those issues. It kicks off on March 10th with the Rise and Fall Special by James Robinson and J.T. Krul. Krul then follows that with Green Arrow #31 the following week (March 17th) and the start of the Justice League: The Rise of Arsenal the week after that (March 24th). Then at the end of the month James Robinson wraps up his first JLA arc and deals the implications of The Rise and Fall from the League’s side. Each of the four issues has a 1-in-25 variant cover created by Justice League: The Rise and Fall Special #1 artist Mike Mayhew.

Newsarama have a preview of the JLA solicitation blurbs for February 2010. The cover for JLA #42 was teased a few days ago, but we get our first look at an image from Cry For Justice #7. JLA Solicitations for January 2010

The JLA covers for 2010 have already been released and now Newsarama has a preview of the Solicitation blurbs. The final paragraph of the JLA #41 solicitation (below) is interesting – it means that the group pin-up we’ve been shown several times isn’t the actual cover. I suppose that its not too surprising given that DC used multiple covers for the launch of Brad Meltzer and Dwayne McDuffie’s runs. It’s also interesting that Cry For Justice will run for a further issue alongside the main title.

The holidays mean that Diamond have taken the unusual step of skipping a week (December 30th) giving them four rather than five shipping weeks in December.  Cry For Justice #6 hasn’t been solicited, but I assume that’s because it would have been in the missing week and is being held over until January.

Faces of Evil in January

January sees a Faces of Evil theme linking a good fraction of DC’s covers. I haven’t seen any promo for the event itself, but I’d bet good money that Alex Ross was involved. Back around 1999-2000 Ross proposed an art book to DC called Portraits of Villainy (the sketches for it turn up in Alex Ross galleries and interviews from time to time). Faces of Evil, as well as following the loose idea of Portraits of Villainy, also follows the cover style that Ross has been using on Justice Society of America – that of a single painted portrait against a black background. Each of January’s covers will thus feature portraits of DC’s big villains.

There are also a selection of one shots to feature particular bad guys that don’t fit into particular ongoing series, but are important for future plotlines. Of interest to JLA readers will be Faces of Evil: Prometheus #1 which, unsurprisingly, features the return of Prometheus and is a setup for James Robinson’s new Justice League spin off series. Those of you with long memories will recall that Prometheus actually appeared first in a very similar issue called New Years Evil: Prometheus #1. New Years Evil was another January event, a skip week in that case, which featured a series of villain centric oneshots. To bring this full circle: the first version of Gog appeared in New Years Evil: Gog #1. That was Mark Waid’s version which has recently been superseeded by Geoff Johns’s version of Alex Ross’s version.
