JLA Solicitations for June 2011

DC Comics have released their solicitations for June 2011 (CBR). The Flashpoint crossover is in full swing there is a lot on the roster, but its still fairly quiet on the actual Justice League front. The JLA cover shows Cyborg and the Red Tornado so maybe they’re back after their side quest in “The Dark Things”.

JLA Solicitations for May 2011

The latest DC solicitations are up on the web (Newsarama, CBR). May will be a surprisingly light month for Justice League solicitations. The Flashpoint crossover is heating up, DC are slashing the low handing fruit (REBELS and JLA All-Stars are gone), and there are numerous Green Lantern movie tie-ins. Justice League: Generation Lost finished the previous month and there aren’t any other JLA mini-series that have been announced yet – maybe we’ll get something post Flashpoint. Justice League of America (vol.2 ) #57 continues the JLA’s fight against Eclipso while Young Justice showcases two villains we saw in "Infiltrator" (the Hook and the Black Spider – Cheshire’s two allies).

JLA Solicitations for January 2011

We are barely into the fourth quarter of 2010, but DC Comics are already releasing the preview listings for comics shipping in January 2011. January is often the focus of a linking theme or event across the DC titles and this time it is the characters themselves. Each title has an iconic pin-up cover with the hero or heroes in front of a large version of their logo.

There are a series of one shots in January that focus of significant players for the year ahead. These one shots include the Starman/Congorilla oneshot that James Robinson had announced at the recent New York Comic Con. JLA #53 and Starman/Congorilla are part of the “JLA Omega” story starting in JLA #50 which features the JLA teaming up with the Crime Syndicate to fight a new villain called the Omega Man.

JLA Solicitations for December 2010 (updated)

DC Comics have released the first JLA solicitations for December 2010 as part of their Brightest Day preview on The Source. The conflict with the Crime Syndicate continues in JLA and the Dark Supergirl who was foreshadowed in Justice League of America (vol 2.) #48 makes her reappearance on a fantastic variant cover by David Mack. In Generation Lost Captain Atom gets another glimpse of the future. The solicitation makes reference to a Wonder Woman appearance which is interesting considering that the Greek Gods have altered reality around her (the JMS arc) and that the she killed Maxwell Lord the first time around – it could be a continuity nightmare, but the Generation Lost guys seem to be facing it head on.

Updated: to add JLA/The-99 #3 and Power Girl #19 which were included in DC’s full solicitation.I’ve included Power Girl as it features the JLI on the cover. The League are also mentioned in the Supergirl solicitation.

JLA Solicitations for November 2010

DC has released their Brightest Day solicitations (including the JLA) for November 2010. JLA #51 features a great variant cover of Starman and Congorilla by David Mack (the subject may not be as pretty as his Supergirl cover, but it’s great to see all team members getting their cover turn). The other five Leaguers (Jesse, Donna, Batman/Dick, Jade, and Supergirl) it refers to are the direct surrogates of the heroes the Crime Syndicate are based on so that makes sense.

The solicitation for Generation Lost pretty much confirms that either Captain Atom or Magog is going to die (Magog’s title has just been cancelled, you do the math). It would appear to be a fairly definite conclusion to the White Lantern directive for Max, but the series isn’t even half over yet. The second part of the JLA/The 99 crossover is also solicited.

It’s up to five members of the Justice League to save the city’s people, with serious repercussions for one Leaguer, who may turn to the dark side. In order to help their teammates, Bill and Mikaal must begin an odyssey across the world that will evoke memories of Prometheus.Retailers please note: This issue will ship with two covers. JLA Solicitations for October 2010

DC Comics has just announced the Brightest Day solicitations for comics, including JLA and Generation Lost, shipping October 2010. Justice League emerges from the post-Dark Things wrap-up and hits the big Fifty – an extra-sized issue with a two-variant covers. Even the normal cover appears to be a bit special – a gate fold cover by Ethan Van Sciver (I assume the preview image is part of that). There is also a 75th anniversary (DC’s own anniversary that is) cover by Jim Lee. It wasn’t included in the solicitations, but the 75th Anniversary covers have been recreations of classic covers done by modern artists.

Updated a few hours later to add the JLA/The-99 crossover, the cover had been trailed last week, and is description was included in the full solicitations.

JLA Collected Editions 2011

2011 looks like it’s going to be an interesting year for collected editions. DC have updated their list of trade collections for the first four months of 2011.

January sees the release of the fifth JLI collection which includes JLI Annuals #2 and #3 plus the first six issues of Justice League Europe. I wasn’t expecting the JLE to show up, but its a very welcome inclusion (my old copies are nearly falling apart). February includes a Rise and Fall hardcover (I really must get around to reviewing that some day) and the fifth JLA Showcase which takes us past JLA #100. The trade collection of “The Dark Things”, the JLA/JSA crossover that started last week, lands in March. April has the trades of the Booster Gold issues by Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis and the first twelve issues of Justice League: Generation Lost – for all those people who want something solid to go with their digital editions.

DC have posted their Brightest Day solicitations – including those for JLA and Generation Lost - for the month of September 2010. The JLA issue sits between the end of the JLA/JSA crossover and the big numbered fiftieth issue. It’s the Jade/Donna story that we’ve heard James Robinson talk about in interviews and at conventions. Generation Lost continues with the pursuit of the former JLIers and appears to pick up on details about Fire’s background introduced in Checkmate and referenced by the Black King in Generation Lost #3. Also of note is that Cliff Chiang and not Tony Harris is listed as providing the normal covers.
