Synopsis

Previously in “Knight of Shadows” Part One: Jason Blood, a friend of the Batman and the cursed alter ego of the demon Etrigan, has been hunting the sorceress Morgaine Le Fay. She seeks the Philosopher’s Stone, a relic from the days of King Arthur, that will allow her to restore Camelot and place her son Mordred on its throne. Having traced the stone to Castle Branek, Le Fay learns that it must have been taken by either Professor Henry Moss or the publisher Harv Hickman. The Justice League separates into two groups to reach both men before Le Fay. Etrigan, Batman, and J’onn J’onzz  get to Moss first, but he doesn’t have the Stone. Their trap for Le Fay is ruined when J’onn stalls before her illusion. Etrigan then accuses the Martian of being in her thrall.

Synopsis

It is the fall of Camelot. King Arthur’s knights defend the embattled stronghold of Camelot against the inhuman forces of the sorceress Morgaine Le Fay. The walls may have yet held if it was not for the treachery of Jason Blood, one of Arthur’s Knights and the Morgaine’s secret lover. He opens the gates to the invaders believing that Morgaine will reciprocate his love. However, Blood is just a pawn in Morgaine’s campaign to place her infant son, Mordred, on Camelot’s throne. She poison’s Blood and then leaves him to die in the dirt as the battle ranges about him. Merlin’s ghost appears to the dying knight and admonishes him that “all my great dreams are undone in the name of thy tainted love.” He then curses Blood to live until the day his monstrous deed is atoned for and marks his soul by  binding him to “a creature from the pit” – a demon called Etrigan.

Synopsis

A very rich select crowd gather at Gotham Auctioneers, Ltd for an auction of rare and unique artefacts. A natural habitat for billionaire businessman Bruce Wayne, but a rather boring outing for his youthful ward Tim Drake. Tim spots another boy and tries striking up a conversation with him on the assumption that he too has been dragged there against his wishes. However, the odd youth (Klarion) and his vicious pet cat (Teekl) seem to be there of their own volition.

The auction starts with an item reputed to be the personal branding iron of Morgaine Le Fay (a sorceress enemy of Merlin and King Arthur). Klarion and a man called Jason Blood get into an bidding war over the item and it appears that Klarion has won until Bruce Wayne suddenly bids 1 million dollars. Wayne bought the item because Blood was trying so hard to keep it out of Klarion’s hands. Blood warns Wayne not to underestimate Klarion, a “witch boy” who turned his own parents into mice (the implication being that they were then eaten by Teekl).
