This is DC’s Classic Multiverse which was first acknowledged in 1961 with the publication of “The Flash of Two Worlds” and concluded in 1986 with the end of the Crisis on Infinite Earths. This is the Multiverse of the original Silver Age Earth-One and Golden Age Earth-Two.

This is the divergent timeline shown in 2011′s Flashpoint Event. It was devoid of its normal heroes and was being consumed by a war between Themyscira and Atlantis. This history was over-written by the New 52 timeline.

Modern DC Multiverse

52-multiverse

The modern DC Multiverse was introduced at the conclusion of the 52 series and featured heavily in Grant Morrison’s Final Crisis. Unlike the original Multiverse, this new one only possesses 52 Universes. However, reality within those Universes has been shown to be highly malleable to with major replacements shown on Earth’s 0, 2 and 51.

When two companies publish an inter-company collaboration they usually show that both their teams are inhabitants of the same Earth, yet those teams have never met each other before and afterwards never refer to the events of the crossover. The strange worlds that exist solely for the duration of team-up are Crossover Earths.
