Michael Cho’s Superboy
Illustrator Michael Cho has created a delightful Superboy piece showing the teen of steel carrying a red wagon, two kids, and a suspiciously recognisable white puppy. It will grace the cover of a coming Superboy collection. You can see the full piece on Michael’s blog. He has a great style, I also like his poster [...]
Worldsfinest’s take on the Justice League
This is a pencils/photoshop piece by Worldfinest on Deviant Art. He takes the classic Justice League and renders them in an animated style that reminds me of the one used for the Legion of Superheroes cartoon. [Via: Geek Speak]
The Art of Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths
The direct-to-DVD animated feature Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths began life as a bridging story between the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited cartoon series. It was to have told the story of how the Justice League built a new orbital watchtower and found themselves having to recruit an army of new heroes after [...]
Comic Book Artist Vol 2 Covers
The original Comic Book Artist magazine was a brilliant counterpoint to the revived Alter Ego zine. It was the foundation of the publishing empire that is Two Morrows, but it unfortunately had its day. There was a relaunched, shiny vol 2. a few years ago, but I personally didn’t think they recaptured the original brilliance. [...]
JLI on the Other Side
Fringe is J. J. Abrams’ follow-up to Lost. It’s a X-Files-esque setup about a team of FBI investigators who study strange occurrences around the world. However, it also comes with a heavy dose of jumping back and forth an alternative universe called the “other side”. Akiva Goldsman wanted to show art from the alternative world’s [...]
Mark Bagley’s JLA/JSA Interlocking Covers
The latest JLA solicitations has revealed the final two-parts of the five interlocking covers by Mark Bagle. We saw photocopies of the pencils when James Robinson showed them to his local comics shop. I’ve stitched the preview covers together (as shown above) and have added them to the Gallery.
“Just us League” by Von Toten
This fantastic image, entitled “Just us League”, of the Justice League gathered in front of the Hall of Justice is from Von Toten’s deviantART page. The colouring reminds me of the DCAU cartoons, but the shapes feel fresh and distinctive. I particularly like young Billy Baston stood in front. [via Daily deviantART on Toynoramus]
Rise of Arsenal #1 the process
Geraldo Borges has posted to his blog images that show the entire art process for a single page of Justice League: Rise of Arsenal #1. It starts with J.T. Krul‘s script, from that Borges creates layouts, loose pencils used to design the pattern of panels and to block out the page, … …based on the [...]
Unused Mayhew spread from Rise and Fall Special
Can you believe that this amazing double-page spread by Mike Mayhew of Green Arrow addressing a crowd of heroes wasn’t used for Justice League: The Rise and Fall Special #1! I particularly like how he renders Gongorilla as a real gorilla and not just a furry-human. You can see the full thing on Mike Mayhew’s [...]
Amazing DC Pantheon Etched on an Etch-A-Sketch
This is quite amazing. It’s the Justice League recreated on an Etch-A-Sketch by the Etch-A-Sketch Man (alias Christoph Brown) and edited together by Nathaniel Brown. What impresses me isn’t just his skill with the device, but a lot of these are actually quite good compositions regardless of the medium. [Via: This site]
