When looked at back-to-back DC’s June and July solicitations aren’t really that ground breaking. Major story lines are in progress, some are heading towards conclusion, there are a couple of new characters. However, that’s the same as most months. The origin of the new Earth 2 Green Lantern is perhaps the most newsworthy new story-beat. There has been a lot of talk lately about how DC are bringing back one of their old-established characters back with a switched sexuality. The character was eventually outed as the JSA’s Alan Scott.

There are two things that  caught my eye. First was Bryan Hitch proving a variant cover for Justice League #11 — one of his few DC pieces since he left JLA a decade ago to co-create the Ultimates for Marvel Comics. The second thing of interest is Young Justice’s attempt to tie together every ape related character in the DC Universe. In many ways Young Justice has been the relaunch that many of us hoped the New 52 was.
