Justice League 2009 Calendar

I can live without most licensed calendars, but next year’s Justice League Calendar looks fantastic.

  1. Question: when do we get this in the States? lol It’s on Amazon.uk, but not Amazon.com. :( lol

  2. I’m not really sure, but there is a Vintage DC Comics Super Heroes 2009 Calendar that will be available in the US. And quite frankly it looks almost as fantastic!

Updated 11 Nov 08 I’ve just got word back from Slow Dazzle, the producers of the Justice League Calendar, that it is indeed only available in the UK. Too bad. Still, I would note that Amazon UK do ship internationally.

  4. Chaps,

The reason you like this calender is coz` it`s got promotional art by DC Comics stalwart, Jose Garcia Lopez. I have quite a few Calenders featuring his great artwork such as the 2003 (?) Superman and Batman efforts. The middle page of the Justice League of America 2009 calender is basically a pull out poster of the front cover featuring the `80s members of the JLA AND IT`S GORGEOUS – get it sent mail order, you won`t be disappointed!

  5. You’re right Iain and I really should have name checked Garcia Lopez. Back in the day, I had the first edition of the 1980s DC Heroes role play game and that was just plastered with page after page of gorgeous stock Garcia Lopez art. I think many of the same pieces have ended up in this calendar. I’m British so it was easy for me to get the calendar (a Christmas present).

The timing of your comment reminded me of a recent post I’d read over at the Aquaman Shrine. They’ve spotted that Australia have their own 2009 Super Powers Calendar based on the same Garcia Lopez stock art. Why on Earth they’re using the Super Power branding I don’t know.

  6. Who knows how these people`s minds work? I checked my calender “archive” and discovered I became aware of the Slow Dazzle DC Comic/Warner Bros calenders in 2002 on buying the Batman and Superman calenders, all full of lovely tantalising Garcia Lopez promo art (not to mention the 2003 Captain Scarlet & The Mysterons calender which showcased the INCREDIBLE Ron Embleton end credit paintings showing CS in various unpleasant situations). Love your site AND it`s review of S:TAS A Fish Story – a great cartoon (ditto for the Green Lantern ep. in the same season): these shows RULE!
