Common on GL, Megan Gale on Wonder Woman

Megan Gale has commented on her upcoming role as Wonder Woman. The Sydney Morning Herald’s gossip column reports :

Cast to play Wonder Woman in George Miller’s mega-budget blockbuster Justice League of America to be shot in Sydney this year, Gale told PS she was grateful for the US writers’ strike, which had postponed production. “We were due to go into production in February, which freaked me out a bit … the strike has given me more time to prepare.”

On Tuesday night Gale, 32, makes her last Sydney catwalk appearance for David Jones in front of 600 VIPs. Despite a few mixed emotions about taking her “last walk”, Gale is firmly focused on Wonder Woman, with intensive sessions with acting coaches, a ruthless fitness regime that has increased her usual exercise workout ten-fold and trying to master a completely new accent: Hollywood Amazonian.

In a separate interview with the Australian Daily Telegraph she admitted that, “I’ve been told by the studio (Warner Bros) and producers to keep fit, keep working on the stunt skills and be ready to live Wonder Woman when we get the go-ahead.”

Now I must admit to be slightly outside the target audience of the Chicago rap-scene, but I do think that the guy they’ve hired to play Green Lantern has got the right sort of name to be in a superhero film. His code name (stage name) is Common and his real name is Lonnie Lynn. It’s a perfect example of the type of repeated initials favoured by comic book writers from Stan Lee to Gerry Conway.

Common commented to MTV on his roll as GL:

“It’s a blessing really, to know that I could potentially be this superhero,” he enthused. “Justice League itself is an honor, and Green Lantern is an incredible character to play. It’s a blessing to be associated with it.”

And as we’re doing the round of the cast lets Google what the other League actors are up to:

Adam Brody (the Flash) is rumoured to have started dating Teresa Palmer (who may be playing Talia). Also Brody has been spotted house hunting in Australia.

Arnie Hammer (Batman) and DJ Cotrona (Superman) seem to be keeping quiet.
