I’ve just been watching Mark Hamil’s The Comic Book Movie. I rented it from the local DVD rental place (Rentertainment in Urbana, IL) and it is a two disc set. Normally I only watch the movie disc and then lazily peruse the second disc before sending it back, but this time I took the time to actually watch the extras which isn’t normally possible due to time contraints. The Movie is great fun and comes across as a sort of Spinal Tap for the comicbook community. It is very referential, but a little unfocused in places.
One thing I hadn’t realised is that almost every actor in the film that isn’t playing themselves is actually a well known voice over artist. On the second disc in a video of a panel at a Comic Con that features them all. It is simply brilliant with a lot of in voice highjinks — including both halfs of Pinky and the Brain (Rob Paulsen and Maurice LaMarche). The Panel is compared by the incredibly cool Gary Owens (Roger Ramjet and the original Space Ghost). Its just amazing the different voices these stars have done; their voices have dominated the entertainment of entire generations, but it is not very often that we get to see the real people. If you rent or buy the film please remember to watch this extra.
