Alter Ego #30

One of my favourite magazines is Roy Thomas’s ALTER EGO from Two Morrows Publishing and this month’s issue has a JLA theme (a magazine about the JLA published by T(w)O Morrow : D  ). They’ve got a rather nice interview with Alex Ross (what did Marvel do to P.O. him?), but my favourite feature was an interview with the family of Dick Dillin. Dick was the penciller on JLA for twelve years and had an almost unbroken run of 115 consecutive issues. A run like that is legend enough, but I remember his art for the contant sense of motion and for how he managed to squeeze all those characters in and still make them look so dynamic.

Also out this month is the LEGION COMPANION, it contains close to fourty interviews with the writers, artists and editors who shaped the pre-reboot Legion. Now if they’d only do a similar JLA companion…

STOP PRESS: I just noticed on Two Morrow’s website that they’ve put Howard Kelter’s GOLDEN AGE DIRECTORY up for download as a pdf. This thing is amazing. You can find if linked from the description of ALTER EGO #33
